Transport economics
The "Economic and Forward Planning" department features a multi-skilled, high level team dedicated to travel modelling, traffic forecasts, understanding the effects of transport policy and infrastructure financing and, more generally, transport economy.
Our economists and transport engineers can provide advice to help local or national transport actors make decisions on transport planning while seeking efficiency for current and future systems. The powerful methods and tools used cover the whole evaluation and optimisation spectrum for projects at their different stages of progress.
This recognised know-how can be seen in the following domains in particular:
- Territorial analysis: identification of structured poles (residence, economic activity poles, facilities generating travel), accessibility analysis,
- Travel analysis: statistical analysis, traffic studies, interviews with key actors for goods transport,
- Analysis of the competition and complementary nature of different methods of transport,
- Economic evaluations,
- Economic indicators to retain optimised solutions.
" In 2010, the department worked in particular on traffic forecast studies and the conduct of socio-economic analysis for the new Paris-Normandy line."
Hubert Julien, Head of the Economic and Forward Planning department.
